Jet Airplane Landing at Sunset

The scary thing is the song is actually very accurate to our situation. We don’t know know when we will be coming home. Not knowing the time table of return is both exciting and a little nerve wracking. You see this is excellent practice of letting go of my type A personalitly and allow my type B personalitly to shine. Personality type A is one who loves to make list and pretty much go by the rules set for them- they are very good organizers. Type B are the ones who are very spontaneous, don’t exactly always know how to plan, but they do know how to have fun and roll with whatever is happening.

I have learned something quite valuable. Planning for many different situations, living arrangements, and just general preperations for months in advance is difficult. Situations are constantly changing. There are two attitudes I can have: I can fret about the situation or just keep trying to go with the flow, enjoying the moment I am in. I prefer to enjoy the time I am in and not worry about the future. Let it take its course while trying to make wise decisions in the moment with the information I have now. When it comes to planning something this big, being flexible and rolling with the flow is an absolute must. The second thing is to have the courage to leave it behind when it isn’t working out, to have firm time tables as well…which sounds contraditory to what I said in the previous paragraph. I know it is confusing. However, it is true I must be flexible; yet, I also must know my limits.  One thing I am so grateful for is the support that Kate and I have received.  The encouragement has been amazing.

Neither Kate nor I expected this opportunity. This opportunity for us to travel is surreal and yet we are living it. We will be visiting multiple countries and kingdoms (yes they very much still exist). So look for our many hellos in multiple languages. The one language I am a little nervous about is the  Russian language, but, thankfully, we tend, or at least Kate tends, to pick up languages easily. Speaking of languages, I should really pick up my French; it is very rusty. Although, I still remember Bonjour is “Hello”. Merci is “thank you”. But, frankly, that’s kinda it. Sad, isn’t it? I took two years of French and absolutely loved it. Yet, I can hardly remember how to converse in French. Looking forward to learning more.

What about you? What are your favorite languages and places to travel? There are so many gorgeous places in this world. What is on your bucket list?

Before I end, I’d love to add that some of my favorite places to visit are right here in Tennessee. I love being home, I love being in my woods. Sometimes I find places that I am comfortable in while traveling, but nothing is like my home. I believe there should always be a base for someone to come home to, no matter whether they travel long and far or only a couple of miles from home. Home is where you love the most.
