While it is true every country have their museums, it’s not very often that we get a tour offered by someone who was born locally. We got to tour an all japanese history museum. One that told history of everyday living, how one ate, lived, and worked. It was a gift that our friend was willing to translate and describe the different aspects of the history of Okinawa museums.
The majority of the Okinawans trade were fishing, working in the fields, or tradesmens. Many of the tools are the same as in the western world especially in the world of gardening. They also had equipment for the sea such as googles. There was a section of where they even showed tools of making clothes. Banana leaves fiber were usually the choice clothing something that is not hard much in the western world.
One thing to note with Okinawanians. Whatever they do and whatever is used is quality. It holds true today. Obviously, there are still the levels of quality. But there are not huge gaps. Today, it is not quality that drives up the prices…it is how rare it is. Plus branding of clothing here is even a bigger thing then in United States, however the quality of non branding vs. branding is really no difference. For the most part, the history of Okinawa quality of tools, clothing, and even (true) Okinawa food remains the same.
