Hard to believe it actually happened, we stayed awake for almost 24 hours and we are actually here. Kate and I are here in Russia. The people here are very friendly, direct, but friendly.
Both of us enjoyed our stay for the short term in Germany. I am glad that at some point we will be visiting. But for now Back to Russia!!!
Imagine if you will the metro stations. A thousand people scurrying to and fro at fast pace. You enter into the station and greeted with chandlers and tall ceiling with paintings on it. Old beauty that still stands out brilliantly. I have not yet taken photographs as I must first find if I can. Permission is better than to find out later and be sorry for the rash action. Once cleared I hope to share the beauty of Moscow.
The people are friendly. Kate and I were struggling with our suitcases up the many steps. I had known there would be. The men astonished up by picking up the suitcases without a word and plopping them down at the top. There with a hand on our suitcase they waited until we were to the top. Without a word, but with a nod they left. This proved to be often the case. Once you get over the shock, it is truly appreciated.
On other notes I tried Squid today!!! Though we are supposed to provide our own food, our kind hosts have three meals that were yummy and fulfilling. It was so very good!!! Kate and I are going to try to recreate it. We did go to the store and got food for almost a week. Unlike America wine is drunk here regularly. If wine is offered it is a token of goodwill. Like us our hosts wishes to be good good terms.
I can’t write much more since I must go to bed. I do really like it here though. Tomorrow we will be attending “school” to learns Russian and how to teach English. Somehow after almost 24 hours lack of sleep and being turned around I am not phased at all at being at school.
One last thought. Blogging on the phone is both easier and harder than I
expected.
