It’s October again. Heading into my very favorite season of fall and in my favorite month October. I don’t know why, but I love October. Although, I have discovered that I have started to love each season in it own way.  Fall is almost ALWAYS a crazy season for me. I’m usually running a mile a minute, my family barely sees me and my friends actually just might catch a blur. Unless you happen to spend time with me on a forth Sunday morning…where I purposely invite someone to breakfast with me. Lately, I’ve been Taking time to breathe. having breakfast or spending time with 13-18 year olds. Do you know how precious they are?

Now, they’re looking at the world with eyes that many of us do not always view or sometimes do not have luxury. There are still some who are innocence and naive, but in such a good way. My heart rises protectively over these girls. “Please” I pray. “Don’t ever think for one second you’re not worth it, because girl you so are!” I love their zeal for life. I love seeing sparkles in their eyes when they talk about their passions, the adult selves I can glimpse as they describe their dreams. Their own strength and courage they face, the way they rejoice, and the way they love…is powerful. Their voice if you listen hard enough…if you take time…ask the questions is very powerful despite their learning to start making their way in the way.

One of the lessons I’ve been reminded of…is to enjoy life. To breath, to admire the moment, and to pause  is what happens when I take time to be with these girls. I hand them the mic- and simply ask questions. They talk…some a little bit more quietly, others more dramatically and I love each one of them.

These moments I treasure. I’ve now have entered an age where I can clearly see a generation behind me. What legacy will I leave behind? In a world that shouts and never shuts up, I choose to be quiet and listen to the upcoming generation. To pour into them with it’s one at a time or a small group. Who knows perhaps they too will turn to listen to the generation that follows them and offer strength of friendship.

Furthermore, I want to teach these girls…well this quote says it best

Finally, I’ve come to this place both personally and professionally-
